Aid Stations, Crew locations & Cutoffs

There are 8 aid stations for the 53 mile race:

Start: Hwy 197, limited supplies
AS 1: Water Only, Mile ~5.5
AS 2: Mesa Portales, Mile 9, Crew, Drop Bags
AS 3: La Ventana Mesa, Mile 17
AS 4: Deadman Peaks, Mile 22.5, Cutoff at 1:00 PM
AS 5: Turn Around, Mile 26.5, Crew, Drop Bags, Cutoff at 1:20 PM
AS 6: Deadman Peaks, Mile 30.5, Cutoff at 2:45 PM
AS 7: La Ventana Mesa, Mile 36
AS 8: Mesa Portales, Mile 43.5, Crew, Drop Bags, Cut Off at 6:30 PM
Finish: Hwy 197, Mile 53,  Cut Off at 11:00 PM

There are 4 aid stations for the marathon:

Start: Torreon Rd (53 mile turn-around), limited supplies
AS 1: Deadman Peaks, Mile 4
AS 2: La Ventana Mesa, Mile 10
AS 3: Mesa Portales, Mile 17, Crew, Drop Bags, Cut Off at 6:00 PM
AS 4: Water Only, Mile ~23.5
Finish: Hwy 197, Mile 26.5,  Cut Off at 11:00 PM

There are 3 aid stations for the 18 mile race:

Start: Hwy197, limited supplies
AS 1: Water Only, Mile ~5.5
AS 2: Mesa Portales, Mile 9, Crew (TURN AROUND)
AS 3: Water Only, Mile ~15.5
Finish: Hwy 197, Mile ~18, Cut Off at 3:00 PM

The aid stations will have the usual ultra food: pretzels, chips, cookies, PB&J sandwiches, candy, oranges, bananas, TailWind, water and soda.  Drop bags are allowed at mile 9, 26.5, 43.5 for the 53 miler and mile 17 for the marathon, and at the finish area.

To minimize the impact of the race on the environment and limit the amount of litter volunteers have to pick up, there won’t be cups at the stations.  All runners are expected to carry at least 1 water bottle. There will be trash cans at the aid stations.

Crews are allowed at Mesa Portales (weather permitting) and the turn around for the 53 milers.
